Science and origin of Auralite-23
Auralite-23, also known as Red Cap Amethyst, is a very rare blend of crystals and one of the oldest minerals on Earth; it is estimated to have formed around 1.2 to 1.5 billion years ago. The only extant locality is the location of its initial discovery, north of Lake Superior in Ontario, Canada. Auralite-23 was only recently discovered and introduced to the mineral market within the last 20 years, making it one of the newest and fastest selling crystals of the 21st century. The name is derived from the "23" minerals that are contained in the chemical composition of the stone (the main one being an amethyst base with inclusions). We always clarify beforehand that although 23 minerals have been found in some crystals from this mine, this does not mean that ALL crystals from this mine automatically contain them all. This does not take away from the unique and limitless energy that one can channel when working with this piece in a spiritual setting. Most of the 23 minerals can only be seen under a microscope, with a few dominant crystals shaping the appearance of this diverse stone (Amethyst, Quartz and Hematite).

Falsified varieties
Since the arrival of Auralite-23 on the market, there has been a huge wave of dealers and retailers selling "fake" varieties of amethyst under the name "Auralite-23". Most are lower quality quartz or amethyst crystals that have been heated to extremely high temperatures to remove outside impurities and make the color shine. This is common with hematite-coated amethysts (usually from Brazil or Uruguay), and it is extremely difficult to tell the difference between the two with the naked eye. The only advice we can give is to really know who you are buying it from. We, for example, are very cautious about this rampant and unethical trade, and we only entrust our limited supply to one small supplier.
Meaning and energy
Auralite-23 exudes an energy foreign to most individuals, especially to practitioners who are truly disconnected from their own soul. As soon as we touch this stone, we can understand the craze it arouses, and why developing a little "obsession" with Auralite-23 is actually quite common. The calming energies one feels through one's body are the result of so many different chemical components working together and cannot be replicated anywhere else (we like to compare this to your favorite dessert that can only be made by that special someone who knows the "secret ingredient").
