What are chakras?

The chakras are the energy centers of the human body and our physical and psychological harmony depends on their balance.

Energy moves through the body through channels called 'meridians or nadis' and the place where they intersect is called chakra.
Eastern traditions describe 7 main chakras positioned along the spine. Each of them is related to an endocrine gland and to a particular group of nerves called 'plexus'.

A balanced energy system confers physical, psychological, emotional and spiritual fullness.

The seven major chakras

Some ancient texts show hundreds of chakras but there are mainly seven . Each of the seven major chakras are physically located at points along the body that correlate with a major nerve plexus and endocrine gland.

I know this sounds a little complex...but that's because it is! We are complex, multidimensional beings and it is no wonder that the way our energy works is complicated.

Each color is a different frequency. Our eyes perceive the color by distinguishing the different frequencies .

When white light passes through a prism, it splits into the seven colors we see in a rainbow. Likewise, one could say that the human body is like the prism and that the seven Chakras are like the seven colors of a Rainbow . Each color is something different but they are all colors. Each Chakra represents a different aspect of ourselves and when viewed together they are the human experience.
