I think you will agree with me when I say that we all want to create a healthy and happy life for ourselves.

During my spiritual journey, I have discovered that one of the main keys to living a balanced life is understanding the importance of your energetic health.

Your body may feel solid to the touch, but you are actually just pure energy.

Your physical body is made of cells, which are made up of atoms. Atoms are fundamental elements of matter, which are made of energy.

The chakras are the main energy centers of the body. Energy flow is crucial to your well-being, and the seven chakras function as key valves that regulate it.

By embarking on the activation and awakening of your seven chakras, you will be able to access the higher realms of existence and bring more life energy to the lower dimensions.

By unblocking chakras throughout your body, you will be able to evolve spiritually, break through the limitations of your mind, and expand your consciousness.

Are you ready to discover the hidden forces of energy within you?

Let's go!

What is chakra?

Chakra is a Sanskrit word that literally means wheel or circle, and has its origins in the ancient Indian system of yoga and the philosophy of Tantra.

Chakras can be described as vortices of energy located vertically along the spine, and they correspond to the spinal plexuses of the physical body.

In your physical body, there are seven main chakras.

Each chakra looks like a wheel of light that spins clockwise at a different speed.

What is the spiritual importance of the chakras?

All of your seven chakras shape your entire spiritual anatomy.

The chakras are important elements on your spiritual path, and understanding them will allow you to better integrate your mind, body and soul.

The chakras can be considered the seven gateways to higher consciousness that will allow you to elevate yourself and better understand your full potential.

Imagine your body as a vehicle for consciousness.

Chakras can be considered as the wheels of life that can move your vehicle in the direction of enlightenment.

Chakras are also called lotuses, and each chakra symbol is represented by a different number of petals, which are an expression of their vibrational frequency:

  • The root chakra has 4 petals
  • The sacral chakra has 6 petals
  • the solar plexus chakra has 10 petals
  • The heart chakra has 12 petals
  • Throat chakra has 16 petals
  • The third eye chakra has 2 petals
  • The crown chakra has 1,000 petals.

The lotus is a sacred Indian flower, which can only grow in mud and whose petals open one by one.

Our chakras behave like the petals of lotus flowers: they can be open or closed depending on the state of consciousness.

What are the 7 chakras in our body?

Chakra 1 - Root Chakra | Muladhara – Located at the base of the spine. It is associated with energy, survival, stability, comfort and security. Its element is earth.

Chakra 2 - Sacral Chakra | Svadhishthana – Located in the lower abdomen. It is associated with sensuality, sexuality, pleasure, sociability and emotions. Its element is water.

Chakra 3 - Solar Plexus Chakra | Manipura – Located in the navel region. It is associated with strength, personality, power, determination and self-esteem. His element is fire.

Chakra 4 - Heart Chakra | Anahata – Located in the middle of the chest, above the sternum. It is associated with love, acceptance, compassion and sincerity. Its element is air.

Chakra 6 - Third Eye Chakra | Ajna – Located in the middle of the forehead. It is associated with intuition, lucidity, meditation and confidence. Its element is light.

Chakra 7 - Crown Chakra | Sahasrara – Located at the top of the head. It is associated with knowledge, consciousness, fulfillment and spirituality. Its element is thought.

The colors of the 7 chakras correspond to the seven colors of the rainbow, and they are called the white light spectrum.

The colors of the rainbow always appear in a specific order (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet) when water droplets scatter sunlight.

1. Root Chakra | Muladhara

The root chakra (Muladhara) is the first chakra in your body, located at the base of the spine. It provides the foundation on which we build our lives, and it represents security, stability, comfort and safety.

The root chakra is the foundation of our entire system on which the other chakras rest, and it is the place where the Kundalini (life force) sleeps, waiting to be released and empower you to move into the material world.

Your root chakra is most deeply connected to the animal nature of your physical body and to the Earth.

If you do not balance this chakra before progressing to the others, your growth will lack the stability necessary for true growth.

The sacral chakra (Svadhishthana) is the second chakra in your body, located around the navel area. The sacral chakra is responsible for the healthy flow of your emotions, and it deals with your ability to relate to yourself and others.

The sacral chakra is the main center of your creativity and emotional intelligence, but the main aspect of the second chakra is sexuality.

Sexual energy is one of the most powerful energies we have in our bodies.

With a balanced sacral chakra, you can allow yourself to enjoy the pleasure of sex as an integrated aspect of life and see intimacy as a form of communication.

Sexuality is our life force and the sacred ritual of union between people.

3. Solar Plexus Chakra – Manipura

solar plexus chakra

The Solar Plexus Chakra (Manipura) is the third chakra in your body, located in the stomach region. You can imagine the third chakra as a radiant yellow sun, which radiates through the center of your body and governs all aspects of your personal power.

The solar plexus has the greatest concentration of pranic energy because 72,000 nadis (pranic energy conduits) meet here and radiate from this center.

It is the center of your personal identity, governing all aspects of your personality, self-esteem and ego.

The primary function and purpose of your solar plexus chakra is transformation. Through the process of transformation, your solar plexus chakra provides the body with fuel, energy, and keeps it alive.

4. Heart Chakra – Anahata

The heart chakra (Anahata) is the fourth chakra in your body, located in the chest region. It represents love, acceptance and compassion.

The heart chakra acts as a bridge between the body (represented by the lower three chakras) and the mind (represented by the 5th, 6th and 7th chakras).

The heart chakra houses our spirit, and love is the primary energy of a healthy heart chakra.

Accepting yourself and practicing self-love will give you a great starting point in developing a healthy heart chakra.

The element of the heart chakra is air, which is the most expansive of the first four elements. Air represents freedom, openness and space.

Working with your breath (Hindus call prana breathing) is one of the best ways to restore balance to your heart chakra.

5. Throat Chakra | Vishuddha

The Throat Chakra (Vishuddha) is the 5th chakra in our body, located in the center of our neck, and it represents your ability to speak clearly and communicate effectively.

The throat chakra is the seat of purification, and the element associated with vishuddha is ether, also called Akasha or spirit.

Ether is a very subtle non-physical element, beyond earth, air, fire and water, which separates the material universe from the astral universe.

The throat chakra is a communication chakra, which shapes our reality and brings all our manifestations onto the physical plane.

Communication is a rhythmic activity and an act of connection, which involves both listening and speaking.

A balanced and purified throat chakra will allow your creativity to express itself through speech (sound), clear thinking and writing.

6. Third Eye Chakra – Ajna

The Third Eye Chakra (Ajna) is the sixth chakra in your body, located in the center of the forehead, between the eyebrows.

The third eye chakra is your spiritual center of consciousness and intuition, and its element is light, which has a vibration faster than sound.

The Sanskrit name for the third eye chakra is anja, which means both “to perceive” and “to command.” People with a highly developed third eye chakra have better visualization skills.

The third eye chakra is your main portal, through which you can obtain higher knowledge and overcome duality.

With an open and awakened third eye chakra, you will be able to access extrasensory perceptions such as clairvoyance and telepathy.

The third eye chakra corresponds to the pineal gland, a light-sensitive gland that controls your circadian rhythm and governs the production of a hormone called melatonin.

The crown chakra (Sahasrara) is the 7th chakra in your body, located at the crown of the head.

Sahasrara means "a thousand times", because the symbol of this chakra is a thousand-petalled lotus which represents the state of higher consciousness and divine connection.

The element of the crown chakra is thought and the main function of this chakra is knowledge.

The development of the crown chakra ultimately leads to profound transformation, self-realization and enlightenment.

At the crown chakra, you can learn to transcend everything you have known so far, as it is a meeting point between the finite and the infinite.

How to unblock the chakras?

Your chakras are constantly radiating and receiving energy and it is important to understand that each chakra is equally important.

All the chakras in your body should be in balance with each other in order to create an even flow of energy throughout the chakra system.

Unblocking and cleansing your chakras normally involves the following steps:

  • Intention – start by setting an intention such as: “I align and balance all of my chakras.”
  • Unblocking – this involves getting to know a particular chakra and releasing all forms of negative thoughts, behaviors and belief systems associated with that center. This guide will help you understand each individual chakra system.
  • Balancing – the process of expanding and aligning the chakras through specific exercises and tools.

One of my favorite tools for unblocking and creating healthy energy flow throughout all of your energy centers is chakra meditation.

During this meditation, you should focus on each energy center in your body, starting with the root chakra and ending with the crown chakra.

Become familiar with the location and color of each chakra in your physical body, set your healing intention before meditation, and imagine each chakra expanding and opening.
